I started Mel’s Cancer Diaries in 2015 as Facebook post entries right after my breast cancer diagnosis. I was encouraged to turn my notes into a blog, but didn’t think it would make a difference. I was wrong about that. I found that the Mel’s Cancer Diaries posts on Facebook were helping other women. Women I’d never even met. People were messaging me and asking if I would help a friend or family member because they were just diagnosed with breast cancer and needed someone to talk to. I found that my honesty and humor helped other women feel a little more brave.
I’ve taken the advice of my favorite people to develop a real blog! This time, however is just a bit different. This time my journey continues with my decision to have my reconstructed breast implants removed. Yep, that’s right! I’m going flat! Honestly, I had a hard time finding other women who chose to do reconstruction then ultimately changed their minds. My hope is that this blog will make you laugh, think, and be a source of encouragement for you.
We are a special kind of club.
